Born in Busan, Korea, Isaac Jang moved to Los Angeles in 1999 and took up the guitar at fourteen, drawn to fingerstyle playing by Tommy Emmanuel. He graduated from the Galloup School of Lutherie in 2007 and apprenticed with Kathy Wingert, then spent several years at Westwood Music under Fred Walecki doing setups, structural and finish repairs and vintage restoration before building under his own name. Since 2013 he has taught acoustic guitar making at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood. He builds a small number of orchestra-model guitars each year from his workshop in Alhambra, Los Angeles, and exhibits at NAMM and the Sound Messe in Osaka.
